Five Bears Earn All-Ivy Recognition

Five members of the Brown men's tennis team have earned All-Ivy recognition for their performances this season. Headlining the group is Senior Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India), who was named Second Team All-Ivy in singles and First Team All-Ivy in doubles with junior Basu Ratnam (Oyster Bay, NY). This marks the third straight All-Ivy selection for Kohli, after he earned Second Team All-Ivy in doubles in 2006 and First Team All-Ivy in doubles last year. His Second Team Singles selection this season marks his first-ever All-Ivy singles honor. For Ratnam, it marks his second selection to the All-Ivy teams, after he earned Second Team All-Ivy honors in singles as a freshman. (MORE)

Bears Secure Second in Ivy League with 6-1 Victory over Yale
The Brown men's tennis team (14-14, 5-2) closed out its 2008 season with a 6-1 victory over Yale on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, Brown finishes the season tied for second in the Ivy League with Columbia. The Bears dominated the doubles matches, winning all three by a combined score of 24-11. In singles action, Brown took five of the six matches, winning four of the five in straight sets. Senior Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India) closed out his Brown career with wins at #1 doubles (8-4) and #1 singles (6-4, 6-3). (MORE)

Bears Fall to #44 Harvard, 7-0
The Brown men's tennis team (13-14, 4-2) hosted #44 Harvard (14-6, 6-0) on Sunday afternoon in a match that would potentially go a long way in determining the 2008 Ivy Champion. A Brown win would give both the Crimson and the Bears one loss in the Ancient Eight with one match left to play. However, Harvard posted a dominating, 7-0, win over Brown to claim the 2008 Title, ending the Bears' hopes for their fourth title overall. Juniors Sam Garland (Bradenton, FL) and Noah Gardner (Cambridge, MA) earned the lone win on the day, picking up an 8-5 victory at #2 doubles. (MORE)
